Absolutely overjoyed at wrapping Yesterday Was a Lie, it seemed like a weight was being lifted as I got ready for the wedding of dear friends Nathan and Lauren. The last shooting day was an overnight shoot in San Diego and we wrapped at 11am in San Diego. The wedding was at 6pm in Brea. That’s only two hours away, but I was an idiot and forgot my suit at my LA apartment, so I needed to drive the 3 hours to LA, and then another hour and a half to Brea. When I got to my apartment, I immediately dropped to the floor and slept until 6pm, making me exorbitantly late. As I was about to leave, I got a call from a friend who told me they were already at the reception, and I was feeling very guilty.

But upon arrival, everything was like a dream. The food was excellent. There was champagne waiting for me at an undistubed spot at the table next to friends. And to top everything off, I CAUGHT THE GARTER when my buddy Nate threw it. It was as though it were divinely ordained. I strolled up to the dance floor when the single men were called, and I engaged in some inflammatory talk among the other contestants, telling them they had no chance. Of course this was all in good fun, but then I caught the damn thing, and from then on, I didn’t notice another male in the room. The reception was my smorgasbord of estrogen as I walked around with the garter on my upper arm like a jew in the holocaust.

I will keep the garter as though it were a magical implement like Frodo’s ring. I’ve never caught the garter before at a wedding, and it seems peculiar that I would catch one tonight. I have yet to fill the puzzle pieces, but I’m excited at the outcome.

I just watched my first episode of The OC. I was tired and couldn’t figure out my roommate’s remote control when I got home from a hard day today. The OC was on and I watched the episode because I couldn’t change channels. I don’t know why the producers didn’t title the show “Beverly Hills 90210 – The Next Generation.” It’s irrelevant that the show takes place in Orange County. It’s still a show about high school kids, filled with a laughable cast of 25-30 year olds playing the high-schoolers. Complete with the parentless rebel and the rich kid with the lawyer parents. I think I’ll stick to 24. As formulaic as it is, it’s a show whose formula hasn’t been done before.
